Seasons greetings everyone!
I am a big fan of the holidays. I love getting a real Christmas tree and how the house smells so good when you put it up. I love watching holiday specials, especially Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer because Bumble is my favorite and everyone knows that Bumble's bounce!
I love watching holiday movies too. Zack and I like to have a holiday movie double feature every year and watch Elf and Bad Santa. Sort of complete opposites on the holiday movie spectrum! I am also a HUGE fan of Love, Actually. I have to watch this on my own as Zack would consider it a chick flick. But I never get tired of it and I love the song that the young girl sings at the end - "All I Want for Christmas is You" - last year I even made it my holiday ringtone! The Christmas decorations started appearing on November 1st in Hong Kong and they do it up big here. We've been taking pictures all over town and I'll share some of the good ones with you.
This first group of pictures is from the neighborhood where we live. Our neighborhood in called Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon. This area is situated on the waterfront facing Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong Island. Many of the buildings along the water and in the area are all lit up with different designs and messages. Some buildings have lights on all sides of them and look like a Christmas package.
This grouping of building are all together facing into a large courtyard that is filled with sidewalk cafes and bars. We can see this one from our apartment window:
We especially like this one of Santa riding a dolphin who is playing with a beach ball. Bonus - it moves!
This is one of the first displays that went up. There is an overhead walkway that faces this building and apparently is a popular sight to set up your camera. Look at this crowd! And this was on a drizzly, windy evening!
These buildings are on the waterfront facing the Harbor.
This group of pictures is of the Hong Kong side taken from the Kowloon waterfront. It was a bit cloudy, but you get the idea.
These pictures are from the holiday display at the Harbour City Mall.
This display was inside -Megan this one made us think of you!
More to follow in the coming weeks. This weekend we are heading to the Times Square Mall where they have a giant Lego Christmas display. Stayed tuned!
