Hello again!!
We're back on the Kowloon side to show you more Christmas decorations. This first display is at a place called 1881 Heritage. This building is the Former Marine Police Headquarters Compound and was built in 1884. This building is a "declared monument" as it is one of the four oldest surviving government buildings in Hong Kong.
They were having a European Christmas Market inside the building where they had food vendors, arts and crafts for sale, and as the flyer promised - the local SPCA had some cuddly puppies available for adoption.
This tree is at a local bar called The Roundhouse. We like this place because they sell a wide variety of American craft beers. This tree is actually decorated with empty beer bottles.
This is a gingerbread display from one of the many local German bars that we enjoy, King Ludwig.
Random decorations from along the waterfront. I don't know if you can tell or not, but the figures have beautiful painted designs on them.
These pictures are along Nathan Rd. which would be comparable to Fifth Avenue in NY. There are many high end designer stores along this road. The lights in the netting are made to look like feathers and they blink on and off so they look like they are falling.
You can see our apartment! It's the brown building with the white top to the right of the really tall building:

I do think yellow is an odd choice for background color on a snowman... |

These steps lead up to Kowloon Park |
This is the Peninsula Hotel all decked out in festive lights.
These pictures are from K11 Art Mall which is just around the corner from our apartment. This tree is made of candy.
I am not sure if the pig is part of a Christmas display but it's cool. It's filled with air and the wings move up and down.
This display at The One (yet another mall in our neighborhood) was curious to us because we did not know what To-fu Club was. We googled it, but can't find anything. Nevertheless, it does exist, because here you have some characters with tofu for heads decked out for Christmas.
Tofu Bartender because I guess Tofu heads like to drink! |

Badass Rockin' Tofu - don't mess with this one! |
This display was at a mall called Elements. There are five wings to the mall for the 5 Chinese elements: water, wood, fire, earth, metal. Fancy schmancy, right? Ultimately, it was just another high-end retail mall. They did have a really cool Christmas display though. It was a Christmas fairy tale garden created by Olek, a Polish born artist who has created crochet art installations all over the world. There were two separate displays. The first display was of a living room, complete with Christmas tree, fireplace and grand piano.
The second display was the fairy tale garden. This was very cool!
The Christmas trees are covered in balls of yarn.
The reindeer were covered in patchwork fabric and very VERY large.
We thought this was cute - trying to get the twins to sit for a Christmas picture in their matching outfits.
Then there was this lady "striking a pose" for her man. We see a lot of this type of picture taking over here. Not sure what it's about, but it is very entertaining.
Work it girl!! |
Our last stop on the Kowloon Christmas Express is Sky100. This is the 4th tallest building in the world. We can see it from our apartment but hadn't been to the top yet. The building is attached to Elements Mall and we just happened to end up there. There was no line amazingly, so we decided to go up. Much to our surprise, they had a Christmas display up there called "Bling Bling Christmas in the Sky". They even had a Santa Claus up there.

This Santa looks a little bored |
The view from the top was pretty amazing. It was a little cloudy unfortunately.

I hope that you have enjoyed this holiday adventure as much as we have. Time to start packing for our trip home - YAY!
I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year!
Love,
